With all the political shifting around following the amazing result of the recent general election, it’s clear that there will be some changes going to be put forward as to how our top judges are selected for appointment. The questions have been raised by some former MPs recently elevated to the upper house. They were less than pleased by the supreme court interpreting certain laws in the way they preferred – thus making their findings and judgment a political matter. Thee will always be questions after such big decisions especially if the results go against what the main political party wanted. There must be complete independence for the judiciary – anything less smacks of government intervention and control and after the terrible scenes coming from asian countries with so much unrest, we need to preserve the peace ad stability that usually reigs over us whilst still allowing the processes of law and order to take place with changes coming in bit by bit.
